(30th and last clip of 3rd C. Title: Becoming Feral, 03:26 min, 2:48:50 hrs)
Posted on the day we honor our fallen human being we chose to symbolize our still ongoing fight for equal rights, first for the blacks but now for all, MLK, Jr. Click into this vidclip to discover the dark feral side of the deaf (and human) experience the Deaf Child underwent. Posted in blessed memory of those deaf people who almost (maybe some did) went feral in their lives on earth.

Deafhood questions: (for deaf person) Were you once abandoned in the “forest” or in anywhere just because you were deaf? Were you abandoned by your birth parents and gave you up for adoption just because they found out that you were deaf?
Deaf Studies commentaries: The feral element in deaf history is interesting to discuss and ponder upon. Probably Harlan Lane was the person who was the first to spotlight on feral children and deafness. He was instrumental in giving attention to feral children through his work on the wild child of Aveyron and of Burundi. See bibliography below for more references. It appears to me that most documented cases of feral children who lived in the wild were not deaf. Harlan did mention that to me in my interview with him years back. The problems posed by feral children such as no language, lack of communication within society, isolation from other people bear relevancy to the “problems” deaf people pose to the hearing society. Myth Commentary: The destruction of the Temple of Aris symbolizes the destruction of the classic fallacy that language and speech are connected. VisMa bringing the Deaf Child into the forest symbolizes the retreat into the deep forest of our humanity in form of feralness. More on that in the next clip.
Deaf history commentary: The destruction of the temple of Aris symbolizes the Renaissance and Reformation in Europe. Girolamo Cardano, an Italian physician, wrote in the 16th century on the emerging idea that deafness and speechlessness are not connected. At least by 16th century, some scholars such as Cardano, Alberti, and Camerarius began to realize the deaf are “educable”. For more information, go to pages in the books listed below.

CT: The First Flight Up - 28th clip - 08:34 min. - 2:39:50 h.
This vid-clip of the deaf child’s first flight up . . . is posted in gratitude to Paddy Ladd who soared with his ideas. In 1992, Paddy walked into my deaf history classroom at Fremont and out with a synopsis of the DC myth. In his inscription of my copy of his immeasurable “white” book, he wrote to me, “Thanks for inspiring me and keep exploring.” That inspired me even further to explore and work on this “odd” but profound “art-literature” project. The myth is so different that even its creator is grappling with it, trying to understand it while continuing its creation and expansion.
This clip is posted with homage and gratitude to our comrade-in-arms, Paddy, for being the first one of only two scholars from the “ivory tower” to cite the DC myth. The second person is coming up later (in 1996) in this list of gratitudes to people who crossed paths with me. Paddy Ladd is, to me, one of the “Deaf Adult” writing the collective “Leather Book” to smash to smithereen the prevaling oppression deaf people still are living in audistic (but lessening over the years) world. The only way to fight audism and make the world more “visi-centric” is to invite hearing people into our small (and sometimes closed) but growing world of signers by having them learn and embrace signing. Unbeknownst to themselves, the world will realize that becoming more “visi-aural” rather than too mono-aural is the answer in improving the human race.
Thank you, Paddy, for one of the carrots at the end of the string hanging from my stick guiding star for me to continue working on this myth.

More coming here, pastel drawing of the deaf child gleefully riding VisMa. Pictures and drawings of the burning of Aris temple. And more are coming. Commentaries and questions, too. Father Time is needed to do them.
Everyone, have a safe and memorable celeb to end 2007 and welcome 2008.

Deaf history commentary. In the timeline of the myth, chapter three (Yairusaylim) is when we began to have preserved or handed down information about the deaf in the past. The first two chapters of the DC myth belong to the primaevel mist of time. The third chapter is less murky with some information from humanity’s sacred literatures. The Bible, Koran, Scriptures, and the Talmud - before Greece and Rome in the next clip, 03.09.
To viewers, You may notice the flunctuations of commentaries in the past clips/posts. In my filing cabinet, there s writing and art work from myself and high school/university students who used this myth to study deaf history and deaf studies. I would love to retype or scan them and insert them in each post with corresponding clips. With a full time job and a family to attend to, there is not enough time to work on my blogs. Bear with me and the myth. With Father time, eventually the myth will be all posted, done sometimes in mid to late 2008. I hope to post the last clip of chapter 11 (when it is the Present) during the protest at Milwaukee. We will see. Thank you for your time here. Happy New Year.

Posted with many good wishes to the DeafRead team in hosting their conference in San Francisco. Vblog technology, live webcasting, and the emergence of a geninue public “sub-altern” discourse on “deaf-ness/dom/hood” give great opportunities and promises to deaf people everywhere.

Synopsis: VisMa, now a “god”, came back home to the planet yet to find same old sets of laws governing the lives of deaf people below. But it also discovered new development among humanity: cities, laws for the common good, and worship of the words on the scroll. VisMa altered the old Archae Law into Hebra’s Law to see what happens.

Posted in honor of and good luck to a man, akin, nearing completion of an extraordinary project, akin to my feelings about this whole myth project. Inside a simple story finds so much “dD”; so much “dD” inside a life of deaf child.

CT: The Great Scroll. This is the 23rd ASL video clip (03:19, 2:06:28) from Katz’s Deaf Child mythology on the “deafhood” (growth/process/history) of the deaf community (deaf experience/deaf history). Posted in thanks to one particular short story by Arthur C. Clarke and my Judaic heritage from our “people of the Book”.

ClipTitle: Ascenscion. (21st clip, 2nd of 3rd C.) 05:20 - 1:58:44 - Where was the human owl transported to?
This clip is posted in gratitude to what I call - science fiction in words and films. A blend of Arthur C. Clarke, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg. Yes, grateful to those artists and their movies and books: Close Encounter of the Third Kind, the 6 Star Wars films, the 2001: A Space Odyssey books/films, and the Rama Novels by Arthur C Clarke. George Lucas was as inspired/influenced as I was by Joesph Campbell, the incomparable comparative mythologist. It is wondruous how ideas from different venues (from religion to the movies) play in all of our lives. Ideas, along with people, mold how we be.

Deafhood Questions
Due to the concepts and imagery used in this clip, there will be no deafhood questions.
Commentaries
Deaf History Commentary: It s upward the human owl went. There is no historical document to verify possible trips away by human beings from the planet before rocketry into space in the last 50 years. Ascension into heaven appears in world’s sacred literatures.
Deaf Studies commentary: The Deaf Studies dimension of the third chapter, Yairusaylim, is education and rehabilitation. Until the human owl meets the Deaf Child in the last two-thirds of the third chapter, there will be no Deaf Studies commentaries.
