The Deaf Child

A Mythology of the Deaf Experience

02.02.01 Archae Law

This is the 12th clip of the Deaf Child mythology (the 2nd of the 2nd chapter, Archae Law).

This clip is posted in gratitude to my former Tripod students who, in the fall of 1989, were the first people to view this myth. They are Jacob Shamberg, Brad Cohen, Jacky Szpiro, Nicole Elgrably, Joseph Nazarian, Chanel Harvey, Justin Lucero, and Chanai Brewster. I thank them for their attention and patience watching their teacher narrate their “sacred” story.

Enjoy this clip about the human owl finding the first of four deaf people on earth.

(added) I remembered something vividly from that storytelling session 18 years ago on the second floor of GW School when the reporters from Daily News were there. When I looked away from the storytelling, I saw laughter on the face of the program director leading the posse of the “hearing” media.  Here is a link to one of my vblogsites showing Paddy Ladd’s words which sustained me over the years that what I do is sacred to deaf people even though facing incredulousity and laughter.

02.01.01 Archae Law

The Deaf Child Mythology by Charles Katz is back into action. Apologies to those who waited for the next installment. There was some snafu this vblogsite had with the server.

This is the eleventh vidclip of the Deaf Child mythology and the first in the second chapter, Archae Law. Enjoy watching how the human owl fared for the first time without its deaf earth mother close by.

For those who can not download below - go to www.youtube.com and type cnkatz in search and view this clip there. Thank you.
