DMV Rite of Passage
Most of us, the day we were old enough, raced down to the DMV on our bikes, via foot power, or riding shotgun in our parents’ car, to pick up the booklets we needed to study in order to pass the written exam and start down the path to a driver’s license.
These days, when I drive, I often wonder just how the hell most folks managed to pass the test and were allowed the privilege of a license. My pet peeves include, but are not limited to cellphone use, weaving at high speeds, ignoring the turn signal handle (blinkers, what have you…), and running red lights. Some of you may recall my Driving Commandments post.
Think you are a good driver, could abide by my commandments, and could pass the DMV written test with flying colors this instant? In that case, I’d like to direct you to this test, courtesy of GMAC (be sure to uncheck the box at the bottom of the test, or you’ll be on some GMAC marketer’s neverending mailing list).
If you’re honest enough, let us know how you did. [In the spirit of disclosure, I got 75%. Never said I was a fantastic driver, heh…]

Thanks for letting us know about the test - cool! I got a better score than I expected.
I got 70%, but there were two questions that I wasn’t sure. The answers were the ones that I was considering but chose differently. Rats! It’s a good review of driving rules and practices.
I won’t tell you the score I got - but I will say that being run through Smith Driving by my company (required, with a review session every year) doesn’t hurt.
Agreed, moxiemocha! A good review of driving rules… obviously PJ gets a more frequent review than the rest of us. *grin*
i got 70%
I actually did pretty good - 95%… only missed the one about the steady yellow light.
I guess the fact that I have moved several times in the past few years and had to take the damn driving test in each state helped!
