Hearing Aid Porn
Someone once told me my titles and posts are very “Googleable.” If that’s the case, I’d love to see what happens with the title above.
In between brief breaks at my latest gig (which is robbing me of my sleep and sanity, slowly but surely…) where I’m having a lot of fun, I’m visiting with family and friends back home and around the nation. A friend and I were idly talking about blogging, technology and the like, when my pal found a particular link and sent it to me.
It’s always fascinating to see what websites there are about deafness, Deaf history, deaf/Deaf people, and the like online. Sometimes there’s the obvious, but sometimes you have to do a little search and you find little nuggets. This particular hidden gem is Concealed Hearing Devices of the 20th Century.
Initially this page is interesting– there’s a table model of an assistive listening device, a primitive example of the FM system or the PocketTalk system [I had the benefit of once working with and assisting a store manager who was quite knowledgeable about all sorts of assistive devices. It’s amazing what the mind retains after so many years…]. Scrolling down, you start to see how vacuum tubes and other innovations in miniaturization led to rapid changes in technology of all kinds, including hearing aids and similar equipment.
After a few more items, we hit paydirt. The finest in modern, mid-20th-century undergarments and all that the undergarments industry has to offer… oops, I mean, look at those dazzling body aids! Aren’t they a comfortable fit? Don’t they hug your body in a form-fitting fashion? Not only that, they come in stylish colors of metallic hues! Oh, and did I mention the harnesses?
Truly, it’s the finest in highly Googleable terms and keywords leading to increased traffic, and unfortunately probable spamming vintage hearing aid porn. Enjoy, but don’t drool too much. I’d hate for you to short out your keyboard. ![]()
