Feline Fancies

Right about now I should either be tucking into or finishing a dinner out, and my date is a friend and fellow blogger. She’s very enamored of cats– so much so that I’m surprised she hasn’t had the cats blog for her when she’s unable to (uh-oh– maybe I shouldn’t have said that– I may create a monster with my words!). But you know what? If she did invite her companions to join her online, it wouldn’t be the first time ever.

I found this blog a while back, and it’s kind of amusing. It’s also lain dormant for some time, but I figure figaro and jett are imitating bears and having an extra-long winter nap. So for those of you whose live-in companion possesses paws, check this blog out.

Rating GUKCC

Well, I’m off to DC today, so I won’t be stopping by much in the next few days. A short break from the blogosphere will do me much good! Like any good deafie, though, I have a pager. So we’ll see just how addicted I truly am over the weekend and into next week. *grin*

While preparing for my trip, I found something rather amusing. The GUKCC advertises its hotel online. A very snazzy website, with pictures and links and the whole works. Well, if you navigate through the site and reach the page marked “Rates,” you’ll see at the top this blurb: Yes, ladies and gentlemen, there is a “Newly Renovated” hotel less than a mile from the US Capitol that offers rates less than $200.00 per night!

Less than $200 in DC? Hmmm… not a bad deal. My eyes skipped down to the posted (current?) rates:

Rack Rate - $325.00 Single $355.00 Double

Now, I know the rack rate is not the rate everyone has to pay, and I’m warning you right now to never hire me as an accountant, but it seems to me that $325 is $125 more than $200. There’s no asterix after the blurb at the very top, either, so I don’t know if there are tons of exceptions to the advertised “less than $200 per night” rate.

Oh, well. I guess that’s truth in advertising for you… ;)
