Back again after 12 months…

Posted by Nick on Apr 18th, 2008

It’s been a roller coaster of a year these past 12 months! Long story, short: Ruptured achillies tendon, received surgery, off work for about 3 months, slow recovery time, foot therapy, strengthen leg muscles and finally, walking again.During this time, I must confess that I had gotten extremely lazy in returning back to keeping my blogsite up to date. I had returned back to work in full force and had kept myself busy ever since. I decided to start with a blog posting to get myself back into the habit of returning back to blogasphere. I’m sure that in the last 12 months, a LOT has changed. So, while this posting may not be an interesting start, at least, I “kic k-started” myself back into this again.I hope life has been good to all of you in the past 12 months. I’m looking forward to returning on a regular basis and seeing all of the regular v/bloggers as well as meeting some new ones.Happy Posting!

Late Night Blog for the D/deaf Commmunity…

Posted by Nick on May 2nd, 2007

Hi, Everybody!

Its been about two weeks since my last posting congratulating Barb and Beg and since that time I’ve gotten really busy! That’s why I hadn’t done a vlog or blog in awhile. Tonight, Im having some trouble sleeping so I decided to do a blog posting instead. :) I’ll go back to vlogging soon. :)

Anyway, I wanted to talk about the interesting times we live in right now! Technology has given us the ability to finally be on the same level as the hearing world! And in most cases, even better! We are able to share our thoughts and ideas through the internet, educate others about OUR Deaf world and OUR language and culture! WE are the ones that are setting an example about equal access, etc.

I happen to think that WE all have a chance at making a difference in this world! Right here, right now!

For instance, I originally joined with the DeafRead group to add my Blogs and Vlogs because I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with the rest of the Deaf world. :) It was through this experience that I learned how to do a vlog better and better.

Now, I decided to try a vlog to help get information out to our own Illinois Deaf Community about a current State House Bill that will affect the lives of our D/deaf Community all over the state! Many groups in Illinois have been working on making a current house bill a reality for two years! If you’re curious what this is about, go to Heartland Illinois Association of the Deaf. All of our D/deaf Community are making a HUGE difference!! This is just one example how we can all make change for the better. :)

Technology is a POWERFUL TOOL, and we all need to make use of it to help change our lives for the better. All it takes is OUR IMAGINATION to make use of what we have in our hands!

I STILL try to keep up with DeafRead and with all of your blogs and vlogs. :) Sometimes, I get behind, but thats ok. :) Your Blogs and Vlogs are HERE to stay! We all have our own lives to take care of and we all have our own priorities. But the best thing about all of this is, we are NO LONGER ISOLATED! We have each other both in the real world and the internet world no matter how busy we are or where we are located around the world!

We have Deafies from as far as England and and far down under as Australia. Thanks to the world of technology, even a night like this where a person like me has a restless night, I can still share my thoughts with all of you. :)

It’s almost 2:00 AM at the time of this writing. :) I think I’ll end it here…. but don’t worry. Ill be back again with more vlogs on the way. :)

Good night, morning, and afternoon….. wherever you are. :)

Congratulations, Barb and BEG!
