Witchhunt
In the face of an unexpected backlash by OSD stakeholders, the ODE has two choices: retreat and give the job back to Mulholland or discredit her.
Their response: Discredit Mulholland

Deaf Schools United » Blog Archive » Oregon: OSD alumni comment A former student ponders why the Governor hadn’t stepped in to intervene and whether it is because the protesters are mostly deaf. An excellent question as I was wondering the same thing. Paternalism? Hearing ”know better” than the deaf?

Deaf Schools United » Blog Archive » Oregon: Making Sure the Steering Committe is… An objection from a protester about the lack of representation from OSD Alumni Association and a warning to make sure the representatives are pro OSD, not pro ODE.
My question: Why did Dennis fire Mulholland first before finding a better replacement? From what I’ve been reading, Mulholland seems to be the best person to handle this job. The unwavering loyalty and overwhelming support from OSD stakeholders say it all. Dennis would be sorely remiss if he doesn’t listen to people who are truly invested in providing quality education for deaf children.Â
It appears Mulholland may have resisted some changes that Dennis has in mind that may not benefit OSD. Possibly he has a plan to relocate OSB to the OSD campus as a means to reduce the fiscal budgets of both schools, but he isn’t forthcoming with the information, perhaps due to the heavy resistance to the plan. Is the Governor staying out of the picture because he agrees with the cost-cutting measures? Should they now put pressure on the Governor?
Lastly, I want to thank David Samuelsen for his regular updates on OSD in his blog, Deaf Schools United.

Jane might have a disagreement with her ODE boss Ms. Castillo’s new direction, executed by the governor and legislators for budget-cutting plans. So Ms. Castillo hired her old political campaign manager Ed Dennis last Fall to do some dirty laundry such as firing of Jane.
What’s more, the Oregon School for the Blind director Don Ouimet mentioned a while ago that he supported a move of the OSB program to the OSD campus. That’s why he did not lose his job, probably instructed by the ODE to tell him to say what the State wants.

I believe there’s more to this than we’re seeing. For example, I know that David Samuelson has not been publishing letters/opinions, or even comments of those that do NOT favor Jane. There have been several letters and/or comments submitted that were not published or deleted from his website. Hence, of course all we are reading are the positive things about Jane. There’s no balance to this.

Alan is ONLY ONE who has been trying to post NEGATIVE about OSD / Mulholland.
Fact number one -Alan was let go before 90 days probation period for stepping on too many wrong toes, including the ones who tried to help him.
Second, the information he claimed turned up false. I checked with several locals who knew what was going on whole time and they are in the incident reports to the absolute contrary of his claims. One claim about a personnel hitting boys repeating, was “swept under rug” - false - this personnel was dismissed 3 times only to be ordered by court to return - this personnel has union’s backing. However this personnel is one to two years away from retirement.
His 2nd claim about a teacher losing tantrums and about to start a fight, this teacher was on probation and was watched until almost 90 days was up and dismissed immediately in full accordance with the regulations Mulholland followed.
As for the dorm counselor involved in the incident involving a boyfriend taking his underage girlfriend out for a weekend without permission, that counselor was dismissed.
After Alan’s dismissal, he moved to different school in another state - only to leave that position after parents’ complaints.
I don’t know if he had any other teaching jobs in any other schools since then.
That is why I did not release any of his comments because his alleged information about other incidents don’t jibe with actual events.
He needs to keep his facts straight and accurate.

Mishka, thanks for all of your hard, investigative work. As a long time employee at another State, I’d like to mention that I foresaw the State of Oregon taking the route to discredit this lady because that is what typical know-nothing government bureaucrats do when theyr’e backed up against the wall.
I hope that somehow the People of the great State of Oregon will prevail in their quest to get this lady reinstalled to her proper place in deaf education!

Once again, David, you prove your ignorance.
Fact one: I was never released. I resigned. You obviously have only heard one side of the story.
Fact two: I know for a fact that the teacher that threw a tantrum and nearly caused a physical fight was never disciplined. I know because I was involved in that situation.
Fact three: The personnel that OSD was forced to re-hire was due to the fact that Jane did not follow the proper procedures when dismissing him. This is something that Jane has told me herself–when I asked her about it years ago. In fact, there are other people who can collaborate this.

Oh, one more thing, David. I did not leave the other school because of parents’ complaints. I left because of a witch hunt that started because some board members found out I was gay, even though I’ve never hidden that fact. The truth, if you would bother to really find it, is that some parents, teachers, and students had a silent protest after I decided to resign.

Hello…just to let you guys know that I was (and still am) one of few people that tried to post anti-Mulholland comments. I had sent the comments to George Schelerg, Statesman Journal newspaper, and all that.
Yes, there is one-sided story to all of this. Because I am seeing that there are TOO MUCH pro-Mulholland comments but NONE of us Anti-Mulholland guys.
I was one of teachers that was forced to resign due to the two witch-hunts against me because of too much speculation and no evidence of my misconduct with a female student.
You may had read the article in today’s article with my name listed in the incident list. It is there because of the speculation being made by ODE, Boyd, and Mulholland all without getting to know me and get to understand what it was that I am doing.
In that incident report, It was said that I was seen at a restaruant with a female student. But her mother was there as well. And it was then that she had to leave to pick up her other daughter and asked me to watch her finish up her dinner.
I was that family’s friend. And we all share our vast disappointment in Mulholland and Boyd whose both had exhibited no communication at all with the family,
Unfortunately, I was born with wrong sexual organs that led the fanatic OSD leaders to think I am demonstrating a form of sexual misconduct.
I am now employed in other state and I am telling you that I had NO problem of this sort so it goes to show that the problem lays with Mulholland and Boyd.

And Alan…I heard a lot about you. It is great to see you here on this blog. I wanted to meet you.
And by the way, the students did try to have a protest about my “resignation
as well as yours..that was what I was told.

Joseph–I’m hearing alot about you lately, too.

Oh…sorry. Ridor is Ricky Taylor of http://www.ridorlive.com. Ehh…I don’t want to give out my e mail on a public forum.
It seems more things are coming out re: Jane and her actions at OSD. I wonder if this has changed how people are viewing this protest?
