Daphne Wright Defended By Sister-in-Law
I got this comment last night in my blog ”Wright: Deaf Community Backlash” regarding Daphne Wright accused of killing a deaf woman:
Daphne Wright is my sister-in-law. All of you said terrible things about her. You guys have no clue at all. IamMine said that she committed a crime. When did you ever see her said that she committed a crime? Daphne never said she did this. So therefore, she didn’t commit any crime. She pleaded not guilty. SH said that she heard from a source that she has a long history of criminal records?? WRONG!! Not one record. Whoever told you that is bull! Ridor, Daphne is not nuts. You are! She is very lovable, funny, enjoyable person to be with. She did have a stable job. She worked at this place for 15 years before she moved to South Dakota. My children adores her. You people have no idea who she is, how can you all judge her by what you have HEARD about her. Try talking to people who knows her well like her family or close friends. GOSH!!
Commentary: Well, this is a sharp constrast to what few deaf people said about Daphne. I invited her to write a brief article on Daphne, but we will see if she does that or not.

No doubt the court will prove she committed this horrible crime. I have no remorse for what she has done!
From my observation based on her behavior when I saw her at the deaf club and at some deaf events she is a hell of a scary lady!

mookie, stop using ridor for anything. He got some information from few people who spent time with crazy woman! I spent a lot of my time with my good friend who had a relationship with daphne. she ABUSED her almost everyday. she had to give her many many chances. She threatened ME if i was in her way. therefore she is DANGEROUS to eveyone!!!

Welcome to America, people. Daphne is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. Up to this point, whatever you say against Daphne without hard evidence to back it up–you are commiting libel/slander.
Think about it, people, if the courts find her not guilty. That “maniac” can sue you guys. These blogs are going to be very incriminating.

Lejon, you haven’t said anything libelous. You mentioned how Daphne looks and that is your personal interpretation. That is very different from saying she is a maniac. Similar with saying she is a scary person. That is again a personal opinion, which is also not libelous, in my opinion. I think people can say whatever they think, as long as they present it as opinions, not facts.
Are the county prosecutors libelous when they accuse her of murdering the poor deaf woman? I doubt it.

True, very true, Mishka Zena.
I agree with you that anybody is entitled to share their opinions anything.
The county prosecutors are NOT libelous when they accuse her of murdering an innocent deaf woman.
However, I’ve been having a hard time applying a similar accusation towards Chris Lambert for murdering Tallie Antolin. I’ve known both of them since I was a kid and I loved them dearly. It’s still hard to believe that Chris would do such a thing like this even though I know that it had actually happened. Sometimes, we have to expect the unexpected.
In Daphne’s case, many have had mentioned that she wasn’t a nice person. So, I guess that her killing someone would be expected.

Giving your opinion on someone’s appearance isn’t libelous. You aren’t making a statement regarding character. Critic John Simon wasn’t hauled into court for saying that actress Vera Miles resembled Howdy Doody–he just had a plate of pasta dumped in his lap by the outraged thespian.

I, too, admit I shouldn’t have jumped on the bandwagon - I had assumed there were evidences pointing to Daphne on killing her lover.
Based on people’s testimonies and her “history” with courts, “long rap” and her being in jail for murder, as well as her personal description does make one convinced very easily.
But as Ben pointed out - it IS the American System where you are INNOCENT until proven guilty, regardless of what you think or say.
I thought I read that she was last seen with that deaf woman and that there was an argument between the two of them, which lead to the murder.
That sounded like evidence to me.
But if they don’t have any and it’s all hearsay, then I do apologize for saying she committed a crime when I don’t know.

I think its very important that no one rush to judgment here. That is the responsibility of the Court, and since she has pleaded Not Guilty, its the Prosecutor’s job to PROVE that she committed the crime of which she is accused.
We have a tendency to judge people before we know the facts. Sadly, even if she is found “Not Guilty” she will have a Black Name for life in the Deaf Community. I’ve seen this happen many, many times — people are accused, and we tell all kinds of terrible stories about what happend back in High School, blah, blah, blah…. Then it turns out the accusation was FALSE, but the person has to live with a reputation for the rest of their life.
Hearing people do this too, but a Hearing person can move to a new town or new state, and no one knows his/her history. Deaf people can move too, but their reputation always follows… Deaf Grapevine is very powerful.
I admit guilt in this myself, and I fear many more people have done the same. Please don’t judge until the TRUTH is discovered.

You don’t have to SAY you’re guilty of a crime to be guilty of a crime. Most people in prison claim that they’re innocent, or that their lawyers screwed them.
I do agree that Daphne is innocent until proven guilty. But, I don’t think there is anything wrong with people who have delt with her personally sharing their observations.

So what if she hasn’t confessed to the crime? They found Darlene’s DNA in Daphne’s basement, which included the DNA from bone fragments and flesh. They also found Darlene’s body parts based on evidence from the interview with Daphne. Forgive me if I and hundreds of other people make the assumption that she’s guilty based on that.

The whole situation with Tallie and Chris was very shocking. Many people weren’t aware of the domestic violence history in that relationship. A good friend of mine worked with Chris and it blew her mind out when she learned about Chris’s alleged role in killing Tallie.
Unfortunately often people are clueless what happens inside the privacy of one’s home, especially in domestic violence.

Its probably very hard on the families of people who are imprisoned while waiting for trial. Very few will admit that their loved one committed a crime, imagine if it was your child who was convicted of a crime, would you be inclined to believe in your child. Many families of accused tend to go unnoticed and receive very little or even no support whereas the victims families generate a lot of support. Is this fair or not? You answer.

This is called “character assasination.” People talking about a person who perhaps do not behave favorably in public and associate their behavior with being guilty of a crime. This lady has been accused of behaving inappropriately in public therefore she must have killed that person.
This is not evidence. This is just a speculation, an opinion.

If you say there is DNA evidence that she was in the basement. So what? It only showed she was there but not that she killed the person. She could have been down there during a visit. By itself, it means nothing.
What they need is the weapon and the killer’s fingerprints, body tissue or blood on it (the weapon) and vice versa belonging to the victim to establish who the killer is. Without the weapon, the prosecution does not have much of a case.

If anybody finds DNA from my bone fragments, tissue, and muscles, you can assume that I’m dead or seriously injured, and that at some time after the death or injury, I was in that room, and most likely injured or killed in that room. Please do NOT assume I was only there for a visit!
Sure, it doesn’t prove that she was murdered by Daphne, but if it’s in Daphne’s house, and Daphne tried to cover it up by painting and remodeling, AND the police found Darlene’s body parts based on the interview with Daphne, well… I’ll come up with my own assumptions, you can come up with yours. We’ll see who’s right.
The news articles where this information is contained is no longer on the website. Drats. Did anybody get a copy of it? It’d be nice to go back and reread what was said.

Do you really believe everything that the media tells you? I feel incredibly sorry for you should ever find yourself accused of something. I’d love to go back and talk to all of the petty people you went to high school with and see what they say about you.
