Deaf Social Network-My Opinion, Do & Don’t List-Part 3
Hello, everyone….
This is my conclusion of this three part series of Deaf Social Network. If you haven’t seen my PART ONE and PART TWO, please read them first before read this ending series.
Reminder: I don’t claim to be a therapist nor psychologist. I only made my own assessment and give my own opinion.
I believe that DeafMeek is somewhat a cult and very cliquey. Why do I call DeafMeek cult? They always sign with some religious gibberish in almost anywhere in their site. That’s when I knew something is not right about that site. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to sign up at DeafMeek and TagDeaf sites. Why do I include TagDeaf even though it’s not so bad? Number one reason is Frau is still hanging out at BOTH sites. Number two is there are no moderators. Number three is TagDeaf owner is often absent from his site for some reason. As you can see the ex-SeekDeaf/TagDeaf members’ experiences in my PART 2 blog, obvious they were victimized by those cliquey people. The moderators are way out of the control. I believe that DeafMeek’s owner is only a puppet while those moderators are really the brains and masterminds behind that site. You obviously can see those comments were made by only one DeafMeek, MtDew. Why couldn’t others show up to defend themselves? In my eyes, they are guilty of destroying the ex-members’ lives and their self-esteems. That is not acceptable. Some of them claim they’re religious. THEY ARE?!? So how come do they cuss out at the members with any names of their choices and even posted some dirty pictures as well? Hmm? Something isn’t right about those such people.
I’d like to show you a few examples that could happen to both Deaf and Hearing people. Remember in the TV news, there were a group of cheerleading girls attacking one girl that made her rendered into unconscious right on YouTube and MySpace.com. Even there are plenty of predators stalking unknown members at any social network, even in the chatroom, and forums. They can track down your address and may stalk you, even put you in the harm’s way. Sometimes some people can lose their jobs for revealing their secrets or any activities that aren’t approved. There is even a teacher who was in only bra and panties in her MySpace.com even though there weren’t even any students on her site that resulted in loss of her teaching job. Some may discuss their affairs that may result in falling into the divorce attorney’s or court’s hands. Same goes to the possible criminal activities going on, that would fall unto the police’s or authorities’ hands. Is it worth your trouble? I don’t think so. You need to protect yourself from those things.
That is the reason to make DO & DON’T list here since I had plenty of experiences as the moderator and administrator at a few sports forums. I’ve had seen a lot of happening anywhere.
It’s important to review this list for you to remember when you sign up with any social network, chat room, and forums. It is a good idea to know what to expect and what to do when you sign up with any sites of your choice.
1. Do show your respect, they will respect you.
2. Don’t give out your information such as your real name, age, address, phone numbers, emails, passwords, bank account, your family or even your secrets unless you know some very well enough to trust. They can be used against you. You may even being stalked by unknown person who may have gotten their hands on your personal information.
3. Do tell the administrator if you feel threatened and being attacked, if he or she does nothing. Leave the site right away. If you really receive any physical threat, contact the authorities right away.
4. Don’t keep your profile in public if you don’t feel comfortable. My advice to you is keep your profile to minimum or nothing as you choose to. Also, keep your profile closed to privacy.
5. Don’t show the pictures of you and even your family that you don’t know anybody in any site. The pictures are only for your own family, relatives and closest friends. Nothing else.
6. Do control your own threads/topics since you start them in first place without allowing any personal attacks. If they get out of hang, contact the moderators or administrators to close it right away.
7. Do not post your naked and/or provocative pictures anywhere in Internet. That can backfire on you as well as your family. Even if you kept that in private for a certain person, it is NOT recommended because of possible hackers. Use your common sense.
8. Do agree to disagree as long as there won’t be any insults nor personal attacks involved. I’m aware that could happen in the heat of moment, that happens often. But try to be more respectful though.
9. Do not go to other site to badmouth anybody from other site since it is none of their business to get involved in both sites at once. Thus, you may have cause the war between the sites. Not a good idea since your reputation may be tainted.
10. Be yourself may only be way to earn the friends BUT you need to be on your guard to protect your privacy.
11. DO NOT make any empty threats because they could think those are real and turn you over to the proper authorities. It’s not a good idea to say, “Oh, I’m just kidding or joking”. That is not acceptable at all. That could harm them in mentally and physically way. That is called mental abuse.
12. Do not play the mind games with them. You could have damaged their self esteems.
13. Do not accept any instant message such as AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc. unless they know the code word that you give to your closest family and friends. For example, you can ask ‘What’s my favorite flower?” Your friend answers, “Rose”. So that way you can accept them. If they answer the wrong, put them on your block list right away to protect yourself.
14. Do report to the harasser’s Internet Service Provider with the email and I.P. address if any, the harasser will be either warned or lose their privileges. If you don’t know how to contact his or her ISP, contact your own ISP by showing them the harasser’s email. They will handle that from there on and would contact his or her ISP right away when they find it valid and possible threatening.
15. Do stand firm when anybody tries to tell you to agree with him or her when you really disagree or don’t want to get involved the heated discussion between two people.
16. Do not involve or elicit anybody in the criminal activities at all. Do report those such activities right away.
17. Never, ever gossip about a certain member that you don’t know very well nor make up the stories about a certain member. Never, ever use their real names anywhere because it can be used as slander and libelous against you. You may stand to lose a lot more than you afford.
18. Please read the rules before you ever start to post and whatnot. Even if you don’t agree with the rules, refrain and respect it. You can leave the site if you don’t agree with the rules, it is your right. Nobody can force you to stay in the site.
19. Don’t say “Hey, I have my freedom speech! I have a right to say what I want to.” That is not the case since the sites’ rules have their rights to remove the posts. Nothing you could do about that. *On edit: I’ve seen that happen all the time. I’ve been showing them the rules that would keep them quiet.*
20. When you do get banned for some reason, expect the email from the moderators or administrators. If you haven’t heard anything from them, email to ask them why you’re banned in a polite and respectful way. If you haven’t heard anything at all, that site obviously is full of cliquey and possible cult. Not worth to pursue it.
Some of the lists do apply to the moderators and administrators as well. There are a few lists that I’ve compile for the moderators and administrators. They should read and learn a lot about how to be more cordial when they start up the brand new site.
ADMINISTRATOR: A person starts a new social network, chat room or even forum should be called an administrator. The duties of administrator are consisted of tweaking everything, making the final decisions, hiring the right person/people as the moderators and keep in contact with the members and moderators. An administrator should be more neutral and meditate the disputes between the members. He or she should show some respect and courtesy toward the members and moderators. He or she should have to bear the responsibility to email the members to explain the reason for the suspension or banishment before he or she starts the proceedings to ban or suspend. An administrator reserves the right to demote and/or ban the moderators upon the evidence shows the improper behavior that the moderator exhibits.
MODERATOR: A person who handles the duties of controlling the chat room and forum. He or she should be more respectful and courtesy toward the members and administrator. The moderator should also meditate the disputes between the members unless it gets out of hand which should be turned over to the administrator. A moderator should NOT egg on other members in the dispute. He or she shouldn’t make fun of the members or post some bad pictures. He or she should never take anybody’s side at all. Not even other moderator’s side unless you review the posts before you make the decision. The group of moderators and administrator should have their own private forum to discuss what to deal with those stuff. Some do cast a vote whether a member should be either suspended or banned. Anything within the administrator and moderators’ private forum shouldn’t leave that room. They will be dealt with in a swift way if the word out of the private forum gets to the members. A moderator can’t object to the suspension nor banishment when an administrator makes the decision after he or she is proven guilty of wrongdoings. The moderators can make the suggestions to an administrator when an administrator drafts the rules, however it is an administrator’s final say on the rules. Neither should not make up the rules as they go. Both administrators and moderators are NOT allowed to read on the members’ emails that are being sent between the members or private messages between the members unless the members turn them over to an administrator and moderators. The real reason for private message is it is PRIVATE, not for your eyes. That could result in the bad blood among all of you.
When you sign up with a site with chat room or forum, MySpace.com, Facebook, DeafMeek, TagDeaf, etc., please read the rules first and check on your profile and settings to make them in private when you really want to keep your life in private. If you’re not sure what to do, you can look for help file or anybody to help you out with that. MySpace, Facebook and others usually have those kinds of settings and help files as well. Be sure to check out the “Welcome, Newbies” or something like that to the effect, just make a short and sweet hello without giving out your life story. Just be yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable to post your pictures nor pictures of your family, DON’T! You reserve your right. Just make your judgment as much as you know how to. It is your responsibility to protect yourself, your family and loved ones. You should be happy to be yourself, nobody should tell you to change anything about yourself. It’s part of your own personality which should be unique. Also, it’s part of who you are as well. Most important thing is you need to feel more safe and confident when you enter any those things.
You can add your comments on “Do & Don’t” since there may be more than that. Also, please show some respect. If you don’t agree with this, be courtesy and respectful to explain your disagreement without throwing any insults nor personal attack toward others and me. Thanks.

I take my hat off to Misha for what she had done. Well said.
People may wonder if they can trust you with sensitive personal information. They may have trusted others and been betrayed or abused. Trust helps people get on with their lives, and is essential for innovation and creativity. Trust can take years to build, and seconds to destroy. If trust is abused, people can spread this information and in this way damage the reputation of those who abused trust.
Trustworthiness is an essential part of emotional maturity. If people do not trust you, you may have to justify every detail of every decision. And - not everybody is as mature as you. Be cautious about who you trust with important information.
The consequences of abused trust can cause lasting damage to an organization, family or friendship.
The administrators and moderators at SeekDeaf, MeekDeaf, and TagDeaf already abused their members’ trusts and they still do. They backstab many members. They are unprofessional. Children, young teenagers and adults may need protection from immature behavior and impulsive decisions. Stay away from them. I do not honor them.

hi I replied my comment to share what I experienced through in 2 page. I am not only person who was banned by deafmeek for no reason. It happened to other deafies as week.
Tell you my opinion is TD is good website with AD that run stability because I don’t have problem with it for two years. I looked back to the way TD was great place for deafies, Hoh, interpreter, etc meeting new friends and sharing discussion in forums without trouble so I enjoyed very much there for fun and loved it. Later I was disappointed that MM spoiled TD member’s interest in TD because he damaged everything to bash his enemies to upset other TD members so some of TD members left TD to join SD then DM. I rather stay in TD that is first original design by alex but don’t join DM that look like a copy idea of TD’s style for my reason because I don’t like to go forth and back between TD and DM so what is point? too much for me. I wished MM wasn’t there but too late so new TD move on forward with new upgrade.
I read your blog that really helped me understanding what happened and what bad is about SD and DM.

What I learned about between two sites. TagDeaf is a very friendly site and open topic to the public users but DeafMeek is not. It is just awful service. DM members and monitors/staffs are very afraid of TagDeaf members who will read DM topics so DM had to block all non-members from reading their topics. Remember TagDeaf is very brave and DM is not. LOL

I’m not playing game with anyone or fool people. gs_goddragon is me only that can type asl writing and english writing but not someone, nothing else. That’s why you assume me and someone else are gs_goddragon writing asl and english so I’m two face? but not true. I never do two faces to people online because I avoid gossip, spy and back stabbing so they damage people’s self esteem, friendship, relationship and marriage, etc.

I see they have transported my private email over here, so let me give you a little background. This was sent to Demented_Frau_Bunny about 4-5 weeks ago. She was trying to broker a peace between myself and another member. I played along, because I am not that much of a fighter. The other member chose to continue to troll me repeatly in his semi-literate ways. I chose to move on, since I had my moment with him and was done with it. There are people you meet online that are NOT a match, and this was mine. I kept my word that I would not reply to his trolling and insults. Well, seems she forwarded my response to her second call for peace to the other member. I was mistaken in thinking she was actually trying to keep peace. Instead, I figured out there was other motives for these emails. Seems they use them to try to involve me in this trivial war between websites. I am not gonna name names, other than the email recipient, because it does little good. I assume this very reply will be Message Board fodder at some website by tomorrow. I still avoid all the trolling efforts of this band of illiterates. This trolling included posting the same email at the site I visit and belong to (TagDeaf). I do not have any issues with the other site (DeafMeek), other than they banned me without cause. I have friends that belong to both sites. All this drama does is makes them entertained for a short time. Soon they will find something else to get angry about. Maybe they should get off their asses and find a job? Or volunteer? I got nothing else. Just found out they had reposted my tired email. As for the GayBoy comment, I regret the choice of words, but the object of my derision had alledgedly posted gay porn pictures during one of his “joyrides” through TagDeaf as an anonymous member. Hence the Gayboy reference. My bad….

I beleive it came from one of DeekMeek Member as new admin. If you never been in DM member or had banned from DM member before. I recommended you to not sign it up. You can view it but dont sign up. Be sure you clear your cookies before you shut off your computer. If you sign up. there is a 50/50 chance that one of DM member will get your personal information like password?, email address and your IP address so there is 50/50 chance for DM member to give the monitor your IP address so they can block you or use your forged IP address to sign up on Tagdeaf or other deaf site. The admin on other site will think it is coming from you and block you out for re sign up. I noticed many new screen names are coming from SeekDeaf / DeafMeek members so I advised you to not sign that new website up.

I see and have tried to be nice to ODW people, but read some things they wrote about people, it was horrible, how can they want people to join such a negative social site for deaf, friends information me that it was copy paste many forum thing on odw from deaf tag and otgher site, Frau or “Taffy” or who ever have many bad things to say and why do they call it a GOOD site ..they are bad negatives about other people.

i joined as membership as SeekGeo since Sept 9th and it was wonderful site and i really enjoy it meet other new people until few weeks later Bitty started on Sept 18th all problems, steal from other people ideas. I like our self opinion site and show who you are not being immature and be nice to each other. Next is DD he steals other videos from other people site this is not proper and no respect for others. I want this to stop and enjoy this site and have fun. We starting to lose some deaf people because of dramatic problems, i hope in future it would stop and be stable without any drama in it. I like to mind own business not be nosing others business.

That is NOT acceptance what same Deafmeek and SeekDeaf people made their nasty videos to bully and turn down Tagdeaf and Seekgeo people at SeekDeaf Video site. Last October 2008, I watched them once but they really turned off me then I went off to other website I feel comfortable and enjoy with so I won’t be interested in often visiting that nasty website again.
Mountain Man, Duro_Dragon, Bity, Snowleaf, Reporter, Spy Agent, Taffy and Devilwhizzgal are immature and troublemaker people who made bad choice what they did video to bully them on the internet so they didn’t respect their life. Duro_Dragon’s nasty animation video offended them without asking for their first permission for people’s photo in his making video but they were all removed away from SD-V. Their message video are off topic, stupid and wrong idea to bully against individual of TD and SG people there. They just wanted their attention to watch their nasty video to abuse and turn down their feeling that make them feeling good and power for their pleasure but they are so pathetic and idiot.
Internet Service Provider would cut off them from internet if they continue bullying them again in the future. Law Enforcement is aware of that as well because someone else already reported last time so I give them a warning this time. It’s not funny about that so they need to stop bullying, leave them alone, move on and respect people’s life on the internet.
Bad things will come back to punish them because they already did make cyberbully video against TD members and SG members on the internet for no reasons so it would be time for those individual DM people to face their real pain big time in the future. I know they would feel guilty inside their heart for what they did shameful things to them.

Funny thing is my deaf nephew tried to join DM to see what all the ruckus was about, as soon as DM found out he had a YAHOO address, he was denied.
So he went to his friends house and got in on his friends IP address, and was accepted,any way, my nephew went in , and he did a bit of exploring, and said he was DISGUSTED with what he saw in there and could not believe the OWNER is supposed to be a CHRISTIAN, the amount of smut, the nasty talk, and the porn and the filthy jokes posted is not the views of a true Christain. He saw some of the videos too and was totally taken aback at the hatered that oozed from those videos. He quickly got out and e mailed me and told me that this group of people will burn in hell. And the owner and his charges will be the first to fall in the pit .
He decided to join Tag Deaf and do some comparison, he said, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Tag Deaf. he said if there was any thing wrong,, it was the DUAL memberships that some of the TD members held, the ones who are still arse kissing in DM are the ones who are copying and pasting every thing and taking it to DM, obviously they have nothing to say, so they decide to “steal” some one elses post so they will have something to TEAR APART and spew horrible things about the authors of the posts. My nephew did say one thing that Deaf Meek is a lawsuit waiting to happen. It is a breeding ground for CYBERBULLIES and CYBER STALKERS..
Mountain Man has one ego that needs to be stroked on a 24/7 basis..FRAU aka TAFFY,, needs DM for the attention she does not get from her hearing biker husband, and she can not sign at all from reports from people who VP her, she is a FRAUD,.
I am just glad my deaf nephew got to witness these nightmares now he can contact his friends on his list to boycott those sites that are run by MOUNTAIN MAN and his charges.I am making sure every one on my friend list does the same thing, because these people are not nice people at all.
