On September 29th from 2pm to 4pm, we will march somewhere downtown Minneapolis or St Paul as part of the International Sign Language Day. All over the world, Deaf people will doing this on their time-zone, 2pm to 4pm.

I asked MADC if they were planning on doing this but they did not have the time to organize the march and will do it starting next year. The reason is that they were involved with Doug Bahl’s court case.

So I decided that I will do the best I can to bring the Minnesota Deaf Community together to be part of the International Sign Language Day this year.

But where do you want to march? At the newspaper company? They are the media that can tell the world the truth about how Alexander Graham Bell destroyed American Sign Language and Deaf Education by telling parents not to teach their Deaf Babies and children sign language at all.

Just recently, Chicago Tribune had an article about Deafness and only had one-sided story. See this link,

All over United States of America, the Deaf Community should be marching around the newspapers demanding more fair and balanced facts about Deaf’s need to have a cognitive language which is American Sign Language.

Television stations could be a good place to march too. Talk to your local Deaf leaders about it.

Let’s get proactive and be effective by telling the media to start listening to the Deaf Community, the real people that knows both worlds of oral and signing.
