  1. All My Children will cast deaf performers.. does that mean all are CIs? Not natural deaf actors?

  2. At least the door is open for us…and perhaps we can educate them that there is other side of deaf community where they are non-ci……*sigh* is it becoming the battle between hearies and deafies? I wish hearies would SHUT UP and let us live! =)

  3. The Deaf Story Arc has already begun.

My mother has always been a hardcore AMC fan, so I get pulled into it like moth to a flame. And I was surprised to see “Spike,” the grandson of Erica Kane had lost his hearing before the Deaf blogosphere was tipped off.

So far it has been a typical Hearie melodrama between Kendall (Erica’s daughter originally played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and now played by an eerie Susan Lucci clone) trying desperately for a “cure” and her hubby pressing for a CI.

Not that you’d be able to TELL this given AMC’s ATROCIOUS CAPTIONING. Ya know, if’n you’re going to try to make some statement in support of the Deaf Community, you could at least TRY to provide COMPETENT CAPTIONING.

    Sic ‘em!

ABC’s forum on AMC is http://forums.go.com/abc/daytime/allmychildren/forum?start=0&forumID=6&byThread=true
and a direct question page is
    http://abc.go.com/daytime/burningquestion/index.html

The best efforts of ABC to try to represent the Deaf Community is completely NEGATED if Deaf people can’t even undeerstand what the heck is being said on the show.
