EVERY time any incident or suspicion of an incident occurred, I immediately reported it to ODE, and began a chronological log of all actions taken. In every case reports were made immediately to OSP, and where appropriate to TSPC (Teacher Standards and Practices Commission). While I will not comment on the specifics of any of the situations, the responses were all made in a timely manner, including contact with parents.
I will be the first to applaud any additional resources being directed to the school. I would ask why these resources were not offered earlier? Why did ODE not provide the resources they believed necessary for the school to be “safe” from their perspective? Where was the oversight and support that was the responsibility of the agency to provide for its school? People can draw their own conclusions as they read the various messages. One such conclusion could be that despite a lack of support and inadequate resources, the OSD staff did an exceptional job of providing for the students as best they could.
