“accessible to all”? not quite…

Update
Seems that WaPo has finally provided a transcript. Good. Now the only thing left is the complete bizarreness of a president-to-be of the deaf university in this country choosing to be interviewed on a radio broadcast…

So here’s irony on top of irony on top of …

It seems that at Gallaudet university, there is a controversy over the selection of the new President, with many people charging that the newly selected person is insensitive to the needs of the deaf community (among many other things). I’m not going to go into the details here; if you’re suddenly curious about this, you can go here and read a WIDE selection of opinion, pro & con.

So. The president designate goes to the Washington Post and does an interview. A RADIO INTERVIEWRADIO!!!!! WaPo does not provide any captioning or transcript of this. Whoa. How insane is that, to discuss D/deaf issues on the radio??

As if that weren’t enough, the Deaf community rushed in to fix the problem, which you can see here. In the comments, one of the people thanks them for making it “accessible to all”.

*Waves hand wildly* HEY! Over HERE! How about CAPTIONS??? A complete TRANSCRIPT?? Not summaries, with injected bias…

Gah.
