It happened again

I drove up to a parking attendant prior to entering a parking lot. I had a hearing passenger. When the parking attendant showed that she wasn’t particularly expressive with her hands, I directed her to speak with my hearing passenger. I did not want to hold up the line into the parking lot. It’s OK when I choose to direct the hearing person to another person.

But here’s the mistake the parking attendant made. When she tore out a parking stub, she handed it to the hearing person! I was closer to her, the parking attendant, yet she felt she ought give it to the passenger. Like I wouldn’t know what to do with it.

Pardon me. I can drive, and sure as hell can take parking stubs. Thank you very much.

    What in the world can’t you communicate to the hearing parking attendant? I don’t give damn if the audists keep horning at you for entering/exiting the parking lot…

    You made the mistake of turning the situation over to your hearing passenger in the first place. The attendent was merely working with “the person in charge”.

    Many times I have told rude hearies that I am DEAF, not retarded. And sometimes I tell tham that what they did was RUDE and I have actually had the person agree with me that she was rude! I do this particularly when I get told, “Oh, never mind!!”

Or when the cashier at the market turns to your companion without waiting for you to answer her question. There’s no end to the hordes of rude people, so just take the check in midair or interrupt the question and smile.
