Pepsi!
You did a super job on ASL commercial. Bravo!! Applaud!! It made me cry. It was a wondeful feeling of opening heart and respect to our ASL Deaf community.
American Sign Language is a second language. Come on and sign up for ASL class. It is a true and beautiful language of Deaf. You'll love it!
Guess what? I drink Diet Pepsi every day.

I am very hard of hearing lady who uses ASL. I have tried the lip reading thing and it doesn't work for me. AGBell can complain all they want but ASL is the way to go. I loved the commercial and I also recommended all my students watch it. BTW I teach ASL! I am pleased that Madison Avenue finally has said, there really is a deaf commnity and we are going to cater to them. Eat your heart out AGB! Right ON Pepei! Right ON!

Gosh this infuriates me guys!!

How about all the years Marlee Matlin has used her speech for all the
hearies to think that we Deaf are excellent lip-readers and speakers?

AGBell are condescending, nazi-behavioral, oppressive, genocidic,
sadists, living-in-the-clouds mentality. AGBell's own wife was Deaf
and he believed Deaf should not marry other Deaf. He tried passing
laws
so that Deaf could not have children together.

Just because of ONE tiny commercial, they have to complain? I am PROUD

to see signing on the commercial! PLUS AGBell must not understand its

cultural. This Deaf SuperBowl Commercial is based on a CULTURAL Deaf
joke!!

That is the main point. Its a joke that WE will recognize, and a joke
that will make the hearies think and even laugh with us!

I'd be happy to write Pepsi and shower them with praises. And YES I
can
do it without criticizing AGBell to them.

I will post the thank you links/e-mails to as many Deaf newsletters as
possible so Pepsi gets a lot of thanks and credit! Pepsi took a huge
step for us.

AGBell disgusts me. Himself AND his whole group of blinded and
closed-minded followers. Life is too short for this, guys!

Communication comes first! Doesn't matter HOW, what's important is
that
you CAN. Sign, speak, whatever. But they should not try to force just

one way on us.

Deaf, not deaf.

AGBell has way too much money and that's what makes them THINK they are

powerful, but guess what - they are only powerful in their little
figment of their "miracle of sound" imaginations.

They told Pepsi that money could have been used to buy hearing aids for

families! AGBell use your OWN money and "help" these families and
mind
your own business.

The time you are wasting to complain about a 60 second commercial which

most hearies will forget about anyway, could be used to really help
others who struggle.

AGBell - make your OWN oppressive hearing-imparied commercials! You
definitely have the money.

Just leave us Deaf alone - PLEASE!!

Hello Deaf, deaf, Hard of Hearing, hard of hearing, Oralism, oralism, and all other hearing loss community (forgive me I dont know all of them)...

I am calling for UNITY. Unity to support eachother's differences. Today we are teaching the community about our abilities, capabilities, efforts, etc to show the Hearing or hearing world that we are no difference from them but our language and our disabilities. Our hearing loss is a disability because disability is defnied as "not able to ____." What is the word on ________? Right, "hear". So, our language differs, of course, but it no one has a right to criticize how we use our language since we are Americans. In American, and in the whole world (should) everyone has a right to speak or sign or gesture or write (low, medium, or high level of English)---no one has a right to abolish or insult or object or whatsoever. I am declaring UNITY! I am not declaring "CRAB THEORY"! UNITY is for the LOVE we have towards our DEAF community to support ourselves out of Barriers of employment, entertainment, leisures, and everything else! CRAB THEORY needs to stop! CRAB THEORY is jealousy, hatred, and sometimes destruction! Is that what you want? Is that what makes you smart? There is a passage that says, "If you are against your own (family, group, friends, etc), then how can you S-T-A-N-D?" Your input is welcome of what you think CRAB THEORY means to you...smile. But I think the Pepsi Commercial was a funny, well taken, and outstanding breakthrough for the Deaf Community. What is AGBell nagging about? That is not necessary. Just make your own commercial if you wish...instad of making it a big deal out of it. I understand how AGBell Organization feels because they dont do ASL, that's fine but that is not their power to say what Deaf can do or cannot do. This is a Democratic country not a Communist Country. Again, I am calling for UNITY!

Thank you...

Howdy- found your blog via google search on the topic. I have a deaf 7 yo w/ a cochlear implant..a CI user...doing great with it...got the AG bell note...and LOVE the commercial. I told my DH about the AG bell note because I thought 'gee maybe I should write Pepsi' and he said "why NOT an ASL commercial...are we so high and mighty..us non-signing deaf families...that we can't allow an ASL commercial and just enjoy it??" Great job Pepsi...it is a great commercial for what it is... captivating, interesting, (i blogged on it briefly myself.)
